Bluebonnets

A local artist, Sleepy Read, painted Bluebonnets. It originally hung in the University's Committee 100 Cafeteria before being moved to the Chan Shun Centennial Library. In 1999, the picture came to its present location. The picture hangs on the wall on the landing of the grand staircase.

The paintings dimensions are 9.5' x 4.5' (114" x 54"). The frame for this work of art came from the Mississippi plantation of Oakley Callicott and was donated to Southwestern by Rex Callicott. Sleepy Read painted Bluebonnets to fit the interior of the massive 11.4' x 6.5' ( 136.5" x 78") frame.
