The first plane built in Texas was built in
Keene in 1911. This 1/2 scale
replica of "Old Soggy" has a wingspan of 17ft and is suspended from the ceiling of the museum.
It is an
interesting focal point as you ascend the stairs to the second floor.
The plane was named "Old Soggy" because one of its wings
hung lower then the other. A close examination reveals the 1800 hours of
research and attention to detail that John Beach put into the replica's
construction. You can learn more about "Old Soggy" in the History -
Legends, Tales & Stories section.
