La
Verne Beeler is a person who has never stopped giving. After devoting her
life to teaching, raising a family, and working as a partner with her
husband Charles in Christian Ministry, La Verne Beeler retired. But this
retirement hasn’t stopped her from giving her time and energy to worthy
causes. And the way she spends her retirement would look life fulltime
work to many people.
La Verne Beeler has been one of the guiding forces in
the development of Southwestern Adventist College’s Alumni Museum of
Student Life. Presiding as curator since its inception four years ago, she
has nurtured its growth and expanded the museum collection from almost
nothing to one that fills a building. She has volunteered her time not
only to the college, but to the community as well. She has been a
volunteer worker at Huguley Memorial Hospital in Fort Worth for over seven
years, and is currently president of the Huguley Auxiliary. Throughout all
of this she has found time to write stories and articles, several of which
have been published in church magazines.
La Verne Beeler is married to
Charles Beeler, whom she met while attending SAC in 1937. She has been at
his side for almost 53 years, sharing in his ministry for the Seventh-day
Adventist Church. She and Charles have two daughters, Martie Schack and
Becci Parrish, and five grandchildren, two of whom are current SAC
students.
