Mattie I. Field McMullen

Obituary - Mattie Isabel Field McMullen was born Sept. 26, 1882, near Lone Oak in Hunt Co., Tex., and died Sept. 6, 1967, in Lincoln, Nebr.  She was the oldest child of Elder T.W. Field, one of the early Adventist ministers in Texas.

 

Early in her life her parents accepted the Seventh-day Adventist faith and moved to Keene, Tex., to give their children the advantage of a Christian education.  After completing her education at Keene, she moved to Hamby, Tex., with her parents, where her father became president of the newly organized West Texas Conference.   While there she met and married James Smith McMullen.  To this union were born three sons, and one daughter who died in infancy.  Later they served in the Texico, Southern Idaho, South Texas, Arkansas-Louisiana, and Texas Conferences.

 

She leaves to mourn her three sons:  James R. McMullen of Jay, Okla.; Dr. Raymond W. McMullen of Lincoln, Nebr.; and Wilbert LeRoy McMullen of Salt Lake City, Utah; two brothers: William F. Field and Dr. John W. Field; eight grandchildren and many friends.

 

Funeral service was held Sept. 8 at Keene, Tex., buy Elder J.F. Anderson.
