Back Next

Obituary - Mintie Taylor Bodwell was born in Tennessee March 21, 1871, to Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Taylor; and passed away June 7, 1945, at the home of her youngest sister, Mrs. G.F. Morris, of Longvale, Calif. She was married to A.G. Bodwell in 1896. The happy couple attended school together  and were graduated from Keene Academy in 1901. In the same year they were sent as missionaries to Mexico, where they remained in service for four years.

On returning to the States they engaged in evangelistic work in various places. Her husband was an ordained minister and was actively engaged in work when he was accidentally drowned in 1907. After the passing of her husband Sister Bodwell acted as matron of the school in Keene, Texas, and taught Spanish. She taught school in various places in Tennessee, Texas, and Arizona. She had a thirst for knowledge and a keen mind, and at the age of fifty she received her A.B. degree from the University of Arizona. In 1923 she came to California. She is survived by four sisters: Artie Taylor, Mrs. G.L. Jones, Mrs. E.E. Backus, and Mrs. G.F. Morris.
